The New Yorker Goings On App

It’s award season…and we’re in the running for the 2015 Appy Awards!

Thanks MediaPost for the lovely write-up about The New Yorker‘s Goings On app.

“The [free iOS and Android] app is a guide to New York City’s cultural life with searchable listings for theatre, art, films, nightlife, restaurants, classical music, and more. The event listings and recommendations can be saved to phone’s calendar and shared with friends via email and social media.

Additionally, The New Yorker’s writers and artists take users on audio tours, guiding them through their favorite places in the city.”

Webby Award NomineesTierra is happy to announce that Latin America expert Shannon O’Neil’s website just received a 2013 W3 Interactive Gold award in the Genera Website – Publishing category.

Cheers to our designers Heidi Adams, developer Gerard Gualberto, and project manager Melissa Wolff who worked hard to launch the redesigned site ahead of Shannon’s recent book tour for Two Nations Indivisible.  The new site features Shannon’s media appearances and press mentions, events, excerpts from the book and her widely followed blog – Latintelligence – among other features. Read more about the project here.

2013 Webbys honor 4 Tierra projects

Posted by jamie | April 19, 2013

Webby Award NomineesThree major projects that Tierra designed and built for The Poetry Foundation have been recognized by the Webbys this year.

The multi-award winning POETRY app was a nominee in the running for this year’s best mobile app in the Education & Reference category. Now’s your chance to show your love of POETRY. Cast your vote in the Webbys People’s Voice Awards.

The Poetry Foundation’s website, which features the organization’s vast database of poetry, and the Poetry Out Loud website, which supports a national recitation contest co-sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, were named as honorees.

The CW Network app was also a Webby honoree in the Entertainment category for tablets and other mobile devices. Tierra enabled these full-episode streaming video apps to be published from the core Tierra-built CMS that powers CWTV.com. Our work supported Phunware and Digitalsmiths as well as the WBTV Digital Media and CBS groups, who led this project.

Awards for our 10th Anniversary

Posted by jamie | October 10, 2012

W3 AwardWhat a great way to celebrate Tierra’s 10th anniversary in business last month. While we were busy re-launching The CW website, we received news that two of our projects were honored with  Silver W3 Awards in mid-September.

Even better — one of them was for this (Tierra’s own) website, which we re-launched a few months ago.  Hats off to our team that worked on the ‘responsive’ re-design:  Gerard Gualberto, Jennifer Over, Heidi Adams and Melissa Wolff.

The second award was for CWingo — a web-based, bingo-type game synced to on-air CW show broadcasts.  We collaborated with our friends at Warner Bros. to build CWingo in late 2011 and the game was used throughout last season.  It will make a re-appearance this season as well with some upgrades.

So, here’s to the last 10 years of successful collaborations with our clients! Onto the next 10!
