A new site for a venerable publication

Posted by jamie | April 2, 2014

YLJ.orgMy team here at Tierra and our friends at Point Five are delighted to announce the redesign of The Yale Law Journal’s website.

Working closely with the 2013-14 editors, Tierra and Point Five reimagined the website to facilitate easy reading for legal scholars.  Among the site’s principle features are an easy to browse archive, side by side footnote overlays for reference and full HTML articles, an innovation few law journals have attempted to date given the extensive length and annotations of legal scholarship.

In addition to implementing the beautiful new site design by the Point Five team, Tierra developed a highly streamlined publishing process as part of the new custom CMS for the site.  Final drafts of edited and approved articles in a Microsoft Word format are uploaded to the CMS and then automatically parsed and rendered as HTML for publishing.  Additional documents (PDFs, tables, images) can also be inserted into the HTML.

Hats off to the YLJ editors for their vision, patience, and dedication to this project as well.  It was a fantastic collaboration for our teams.

Awards for our 10th Anniversary

Posted by jamie | October 10, 2012

W3 AwardWhat a great way to celebrate Tierra’s 10th anniversary in business last month. While we were busy re-launching The CW website, we received news that two of our projects were honored with  Silver W3 Awards in mid-September.

Even better — one of them was for this (Tierra’s own) website, which we re-launched a few months ago.  Hats off to our team that worked on the ‘responsive’ re-design:  Gerard Gualberto, Jennifer Over, Heidi Adams and Melissa Wolff.

The second award was for CWingo — a web-based, bingo-type game synced to on-air CW show broadcasts.  We collaborated with our friends at Warner Bros. to build CWingo in late 2011 and the game was used throughout last season.  It will make a re-appearance this season as well with some upgrades.

So, here’s to the last 10 years of successful collaborations with our clients! Onto the next 10!

Welcome to our new site!

Posted by jamie | May 25, 2012

Tierra works hard every day to help our clients solve their problems with awesome websites, apps and the tools that power them.  The irony for us is that we almost never have time to work on our own.

So today, we’re really excited to announce Tierra’s new website — the product of much collaboration between our designers, developers, and strategists in fits and starts over the course of almost a year.  Special kudos goes to Gerard Gualberto, Jennifer Over, Melissa Wolff, and Heidi Adams without whose design, coding, and marketing prowess we would not be able to launch the site today.

Our geeky side makes us proud that the site has been built from the ground up using responsive web design techniques.  So go ahead and  check it out on your iPhone/Android, iPad/Tablet or just resize your browser…it will magically render itself in the best way possible for your screen and orientation.

Better yet, we’re happy to finally have a new and more expansive canvas to showcase all our client work, awards, and other news. You’ll find all our notable projects organized in the Work section, but you can also view by Clients or sort by our various areas of Expertise.

We hope you like our new site as much as we do. Check out some of our recent work or browse around and let us know what you think.

Or get in touch. We’d love to work with you!

Tierra picks up a pair of IMA Awards

IMA 2011

Two sites designed and built by Tierra this past year — CBS Press Express and The Poetry Foundation — won Outstanding Achievement Awards from the Interactive Media Council.

The honor, granted by the Interactive Media Awards, recognizes that the projects surpassed the standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work. We’re delighted that these two large projects, which such different organization continue to win awards.
