Announcing Tierra’s WordPress CMS Toolkit

This past weekend, Dan Goldman, Exec. Director at WNET.ORG, and I presented at WordCamp NYC.   It was a great turnout with a lot of interesting questions about our work together.   During the presentation, we reviewed WNET.ORG’s business rationale for migrating all of its website publishing to the WordPress platform  Dan talked about how having a centralized CMS has radically changed their overall process and let his team spend more time promoting than designing and developing.  Check out the slides below for more.

We also formally announced Tierra’s WordPress CMS Toolkit website at WordCamp.  As part of our commitment to releasing all the project code to the open-source community, we launched the Toolkit site to centralize all plugins, templates, and other support info about this project.  The Tookit takes WordPress way beyond blogging and lets you use it as a full-blown content management system (CMS).  Using our plugins and templates your organization can easily design and build scalable and flexible media-rich websites with the ease of use of WordPress.

In addition to what’s there now, more plugins and code will be posted soon.   Dozens of WNET.ORG and other organizations have already taken advantage of the plugins for their sites.  We hope you find it useful and look forward to hearing your feedback about it.

    I was at your presentation and found what you have achieved with this project really impressive. Congratulations! I was familiar with the idea of using WordPress as a CMS, but I have to admit that I never thought it could be utilized at this level. An inspiring case study which gave me a different perspective about WordPress. It can very well be a feasible web publishing tool for larger enterprises with higher web traffic volumes. I am also looking forward to get my hands on your upcoming plugins, especially the billboard manager and the photo gallery.
